CEO Parler: ‘No indication’ Big Tech’s closing threats were ‘deadly serious’ until the last minute

Big Tech giants Amazon, Apple and Google gave no indication to inaugurate the social media platform Parler until the last moment that their threats to unplug the plug were “deadly serious,” Parler CEO John Matze told “Life, Liberty & Levin” in an interview showing Sunday night.

On the weekend after the January 6 deadly riot at the United States Capitol, Parler was kicked out of Google Play and the Apple App Store. Soon after, Amazon Web Services disconnected Parler from its servers only 24 hours in advance.

“It is very, very interesting that all of them, exactly on the same day without indicating in advance, they never indicated to us that there was any serious or material problem with our application,” Matze told presenter Mark Levin. “But on the same day, you know, everyone on the same day, they send us these very threatening warnings.

“Then we said, ‘OK, let’s call this. Let’s see what you know, let’s see what Google said. In fact, they never sent us emails and we have no way to contact them,'” he added. “Okay, Google is out of the question. Apple … we called our representative, and they basically shrugged and gave no indication that this was deadly serious, even though … their email is very serious .

“And Amazon, as always, [was] basically saying, ‘Oh, I never saw any material problems. There are no problems. ‘You know, they were played with a lot of indifference. And then we still had, you know, on the 8th and 9th, you know, we had no real indication that it was, you know, deadly serious. “

According to Matze, Parler was the fastest growing social media platform in the early days of 2021.

In some of the past few days, before we received the ax from Amazon Web Services, we had almost a million new accounts created that last day, “he said.” We were number one on the App Store. We were above Facebook, we were above TikTok, we were above YouTube, above Instagram, above all App Store applications in the United States. We were number one before I picked up the ax. “

What’s more, said the CEO, Parler’s business model has proven to work.

“You know, our ads were not intrusive. We weren’t using data to predict people or mining people’s data,” said Matze. “We were presenting the ads in a way that I like to describe as human, so we were doing what I think is best for the ads, which is respecting people’s privacy. We were getting huge revenue from small organic businesses and helping them. And so we prove our model. We prove our growth in the market. “
