The incredible (and incredibly introspective) heavenly graced our home consoles in 2018, sending us all on a journey of bold, strawberry collecting and self-reflection. Now, three years later, the team at Extremely good games launched a sequel … in a way.
Before heavenly was heavenly, that was heavenly, a more simplistic game built on the Pico-8 engine and released in 2016. This version, now known as Celeste Classic, has since been overshadowed by his older sister, but that does not mean that the developers have forgotten him.
Log in Celeste 2: Lani’s Journey, a continuation of the original heavenly that Extremely OK Games programmer Noel Berry said it was done in just three days.
As the name suggests, this sequence is not about heavenly protagonist Madeline, but a new character called Lani. Instead of using daring magical powers, Lani’s journey to Mount Celeste revolves around a hook. Although I have only played a few minutes so far, it is difficult in all the ways the previous one did heavenly so good games.
