Celebrities provide financial aid to Texas amidst the storm: ‘Send our prayers’

Texas was hit by a deadly winter storm this week and millions of residents were left without power in freezing temperatures.

Hollywood has come together – along with politicians – to help raise funds and provide help as communities struggle to find food, water and shelter.

Beyonce, a Houston native, is offering financial assistance. Its foundation, Beygood, and sportswear brand Adidas have joined Houston’s Bread of Life to help feed people in need.

“We send our prayers to those who have been affected by the winter storm,” a tweet posted by the Beygood organization said.

Austin resident Matthew McConaughey tweeted, “I am sending prayers of resilience and humanity of help to all Texans who are struggling with the freeze.”

“I sought to help @mealsonwheels, @AAULTX, @BGCAustin,” added the actor. “For more information on resources, how you can help or donate, tap the links above.”

BeyoncĂ© and Solange’s sister also donated. “Sending so much love back home and I’m committed to doing more … my heart breaks, man, thanks for all the endless work you’re doing on the floor,” tweeted the singer.

Reality star and entrepreneur Bethenny Frankel is providing relief through her B Strong crisis foundation.

More energy was restored to homes and businesses in Texas on Friday after a deadly winter storm, but water problems appear to be growing, as some 13 million people – nearly half the state’s population – have been advised to boil the water before using it.

As of Friday morning, more than 180,000 homes and businesses across the state are still waiting for electricity to return, according to PowerOutage.us.
