Celebrities are attacking Senator Ted Cruz for traveling to Cancun, Mexico, with his family, while Texas continues to face a major snow crisis that has left more than 500,000 without power.
Cruz, R-Texas, told Sean Hannity that he had lost power at his home for two days before deciding to travel and admitted that he started having “doubts almost immediately” after boarding his flight.
Photos of the senator started circulating on social media on Wednesday night, showing him at an airport while millions of Texans remained without electricity, heating or drinking water. His travels generated an intense reaction not only from Texans, but also from citizens across the country, including several Hollywood stars who criticized him for abandoning his voters.

Celebrities stormed Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, this week, when photos surfaced showing the politician traveling to Cancun, Mexico, while millions of Texas constituents were without power in the midst of a catastrophic snowstorm.

Bush continued to retweet other people criticizing Cruz and, on one occasion, called his actions “infuriating”.
“Fully bipartisan tweet: F – k Ted Cruz”, “mom” star Kristen Johnston added.

Charming student Alyssa Milano praised Beto O’Rourke to “really” be in Texas in the midst of the winter storm “making phone calls to check welfare”. She said on Twitter that she knew of O’Rourke’s efforts because she was on the same link as Zoom with him, “watching him work for his Texan colleagues”.
Milano also said that he asked “#cancunCruz” “to follow me on Twitter yesterday so I could DM him.” She then shared a screenshot of a tweet that asked him to try to co-sponsor a bill that “would suspend the arbitrary term of the Equal Rights Amendment,” she explained.
“He didn’t respond,” added Milano.
TED CRUZ ADMITS CANCUN TRIP ‘OBVIOUSLY AN ERROR’
Comedian Chelsea Handler accessed Twitter with a joke in response to Cruz’s travels. “If you’re wondering how far Ted Cruz will go to prove he’s a hole, it’s 1,800 miles,” she tweeted Thursday.
“Millions of its constituents are without energy and water in freezing temperatures and @tedcruz it is * literally * taking a plane for the spring break in Cancún. You can’t make this up, ” Padma Lakshmi said.
Patton Oswalt also mocked Cruz by retweeting several tweets with photos of Cruz on an airplane and at the airport. “This absolute worm,” wrote Oswalt in a tweet.

“Star Trek” actor George Takei said Cruz has proved “that he can do something that no compassionate or effective leader would do, and the Republican Party base in Texas will still vote for him because you have to own the libs.”
Mia Farrow said that Texas deserves better.
“Dear #Texas When you leave this horrible time – and you will leave because you are the great people of a great state – remember this coward. You deserve the best. #TexasFreeze #CancunCruz“Wrote Farrow.
In another statement on the social media platform, Farrow shared this “rule” with his followers: “if you are a politician whose state is going through an immense catastrophe, don’t fly to a sublime vacation spot. If you care about your constituents , you STAY AND HELP. “
Rosanna Arquette said that Cruz “is not fit to serve the American people in any way” and also referred to him as a “disgrace”.

“Heidi and I, we lost power for two days,” Cruz told Hannity, referring to his wife. “Our house was dark. We had no heating. We were all huddled around the fireplace because it was the only heating in the house, and after a few days [of] the girls are very cold and [temperatures] whether in her teens or 20s, our girls said, ‘Look, school was canceled this week. Can we take a trip and go somewhere warm? ‘And Heidi and I, as parents, said’ OK, of course ‘.
“And then last night I flew with them to the beach and then I came back this afternoon,” continued Cruz.

The senator intended to stay with the family over the weekend, “but as I was going there, you know, I started to reconsider almost immediately because the crisis here in Texas, you need to be here on the floor,” he said Hannity.
“As much as you can do over the phone and Zoom, it’s not the same as being here. And so, I came back this afternoon and I’m here working to make sure we do everything we can to turn on the power.”
