Top Biden consultant Cedric Richmond told Axios on HBO that the White House believes it has bipartisan support for a stimulus project outside the Beltway.
- “If our choice is to wait and go bipartisan with an insufficient package, we will not do that.”
The big picture: The bill is likely to undergo a Senate review after House Democrats narrowly approved a stimulus bill this weekend, reports Axios’ Kadia Goba.
Richmond said the Biden White House has had no talk of circumventing the legislative obstruction in the Senate, which requires a 3/5 majority to approve the bills.
- “The Senate has been an obstructionist for a long time,” Richmond told Axios on HBO.
- “We send bills that are supported by 97% of Americans … but reach the Senate and die,” said Richmond.
