PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The CDC has updated travel guidelines for people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

In an updated post on its website, the agency says that fully vaccinated people can travel safely within the United States without a COVID-19 test, as long as they wear a mask and have social distance.

This is news that many have been waiting for. A group of families at Pittsburgh International Airport said on Friday that everyone was vaccinated and headed for Florida.

“Relieved, woo,” said Cathy Wetzler of New York.

The CDC said that those who are vaccinated can travel to the United States without taking the COVID-19 test or be quarantined if they continue to take precautions, including wearing masks and social distance while traveling.

“We are going to do our part, why not? The faster we do it together, the faster we can get over it, ”said Oscar Veneszee, from Florida.

He would surprise his daughter, who just finished training at Pensacola.

The CDC said that fully vaccinated travelers are less likely to obtain and spread COVID-19 and can travel “low risk” for themselves.

“I think this is great. I’m vaccinated, so I’m ready to start using it and start traveling again, ”said Kara Buncic, from Canonsburg.

She and her husband were going to Florida for spring break. It was a difficult 13 months, full of canceled trips, blockades and quarantines.

“We had to cancel at least three vacations and a destination wedding was canceled in 2020 for us,” said Buncic.

“It was very frustrating. It looked like you were stuck. But we understand why they did it, to be safe, ”said Sutfin.

Travelers are ready for a smooth landing and some normalcy.

“It has been more than a year since we were able to do anything. So it’s good to know that we can all take a trip together and enjoy life again, ”said Wetzler.

The CDC said that fully vaccinated people traveling abroad will not need to take the COVID-19 test before the trip, unless the destination requires it. They will also not need to be quarantined, unless it is necessary where they live.

Vaccinated travelers must still have a negative COVID-19 test before flying back to the USA

The CDC is not encouraging vaccinated people to travel and is not changing its travel guidelines for non-vaccinated people.
