Calling Database Enhancement Gateway information “priceless” for association members and the collision industry, the Carolinas Collision Association has joined the DEG Gold sponsor group.

“CCA is extremely proud to partner with DEG,” said CCC President Kyle Bradshaw (K&M Collision) in a statement on Thursday. “DEG is a great resource and tool that is a great benefit for our association. We realize the importance of educating our associated workshops and appreciate the valuable information that DEG provides not only to CCA members, but to the crash repair industry as a whole. “

DEG is a free industry resource that allows crash repairers and insurers to ask questions and suggest changes to the estimation services of Audatex, CCC and Mitchell. It is responsive and fast; the DEG or the information providers will usually have the answers for you in a few days – usually the same day.

Questions and answers are also preserved in a DEG database based on more than 17,000 previous queries. Thus, it is possible for estimators and evaluators to find answers to their doubts in the files and not even need to make an appointment.

DEG also provides examples of relevant surveys for the CRASH-CRASH Advice Network “Who pays for what?” and DEG administrator Danny Gredinberg earlier this year started appearing alongside Collision Advice CEO Mike Anderson in a series of free weekly video tips from the Society of Collision Repair Specialists.

The non-profit organization is a joint effort of the National Alliance of Automotive Service Providers and the Society of Collision Repair Specialists. It is also supported by sponsors and advertisers.

The Automotive Service Association and PPG sponsor DEG at the Platinum level. The CCC, whose sponsorship was announced on Thursday, joins ALLDATA, the Texas Auto Body Association, the Kansas Auto Body Association, Nylund’s Collision Center, Redwood City Autobody and Spanesi at the Gold level. Silver level sponsors include Washington Metropolitan Auto Body Association and Auto Body Hawaii, and Integrity Auto Collision Fairfield and Osceola Autobody support DEG at the Bronze level.

“We are all very proud to recognize CCA for sponsoring with a generous contribution to help invest in industry resources that are having a positive impact on its members,” said Gredinberg in a statement on Thursday. “CCA’s support for our program helps keep DEG as a free resource for the crash repair industry and is a true testament to the commitment that the CCA board of directors has made to its membership base.”

In honor of the CCA, we present you with a new DEG survey involving a vehicle built on the association’s own grounds: a BMW X3 2020. BMW builds the crossover at the old Spartanburg, SC facility, which South Carolina credits as a “turnaround” of game “for the manufacture of the state.

A DEG user on January 13 wrote about Audatex’s working time to remove and install a 2020 X3 roof rack.

“Currently, the luggage compartment rail allows only 0.1 after the roof liner is removed for this operation,” wrote the user. “The typical IR time for this type of part is 0.3 in other vehicle chapters with identical fastening process once the roof liner is removed.

As described by the user, a repairman must access and remove three nuts after removing the ceiling liner.

“(T) These nuts are partially blocked by the SRS curtain airbag and drain pipes, but can be accessed by removing any of them,” wrote the user. “After the nuts are removed, the luggage carrier rail is lifted safely and removed from the vehicle.”

Audatex responded by adding an additional 0.2 hours to its “RAIL, LUGGAGE RACK” time. The IP said a March 2021 update would incorporate the change.

“The RAIL, BAGAGE (GN 0350/0351 and 0553/0554) labor allowance has changed from 2.6 hours to 2.8 hours,” wrote Audatex. “All times are prior to option conditioning and / or overlapping considerations.”
