Carolina with face of idol Swearinger

The day after he was in Columbia visiting the South Carolina football program, DJ Swearinger he returned to his hometown of Greenwood, SC and met a Gamecock footballer who would soon be enrolled. Greenwood linebacker KJ Scott, who signed a contract with the Gamecocks in February, met Swearinger and they took the photo posted below.

When Scott signed with his state school in February, he explained to the local media what kind of inspiration Swearinger has been to him.

Scott is one of several notable visitors in the state who will be joining the Gamecocks football team in 2021: others include Sumter’s back runner Nathan Harris-Waynick, Wide receiver AC Flora Eriq rice and Heathwood Hall linebacker Ronnie Porter.

Swearinger has been very active in his hometown since arriving in the NFL. He held several events in Greenwood with his foundation. More recently, he bought the closed recreational center he attended during his childhood. He will renovate the property and reopen it.

A choice for the second round of the 2013 NFL draft, Swearinger has played 110 games in the past eight years. He has 425 tackles, 13 loss tackles, 14 interceptions, nine forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and 43 defended passes. Having played for the Texans, Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Redskins, Saints and Raiders, he won more than $ 17 million on the football field. He played in eight games with the Saints in 2020. A three-star perspective class from 2009, he played in South Carolina from 2009-12. He has played 52 of 53 games over four seasons, making 33 appearances. He recorded 244 tackles with six interceptions.
