Texas A&M Quarterback Kellen Mond was named MVP of yesterday’s Senior Bowl All-Star game. Mond was 13 of 25 throwing the ball for 173 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions, as well as two-point running and passing conversions. He left a strong impression before the 2021 NFL Draft.
Rhule was trained by the head coach of the Carolina Panthers Matt Rhule, as the Panthers and the Miami Dolphins were the two teams that trained all week and the All Star game. After Mond’s performance, Rhule praised the caller.
“We’re talking about a very, very smart football guy here,” said Rhule after the game, via NFL.com. “He has one of those memories. You give him a game and he knows it. He kind of got into the rhythm there in the third quarter, just tearing up some sewing balls, making a few moves. I think he has a bright future. “
Mond now moves on to the next phase of the NFL Draft journey. The next stop is your professional day at Texas A&M and then individual meetings with NFL teams. There will be interest in his skills as he builds an excellent campaign for 2020.
“It’s a big sign of everything I’ve worked for and obviously I’ve had some ups and downs over the course of my career, but finally coming here and performing on a huge stage the way I wanted to and performing was definitely incredible,” Mond said performance over the week.
Mond started slow, but was able to find his rhythm in the third quarter. He launched touchdown passes for the Clemson Tigers star Amari Rodgers and Tennessee Volunteers tight end Josh Palmer in the second half.
The bid for Rodgers stood out. Mond was able to fit football into a tight window with two defenders flanking Rodgers in the final zone. The pass rejuvenated the American team as they returned to the game.
After meeting Palmer later in the game, Mond was able to arrange a two-point conversion to give his teammates a chance in the fourth period. He said that being able to make competitive moves was something he was proud of after the game.
“I think it’s my ability to compete,” said Mond. “I didn’t start very well, but just the ability to recover and still show balance. I have had a lot of great releases and I can continue to move forward. I’m super blessed and I’m lucky to have a lot of great people around me. I will definitely celebrate with my family. “

He completed 63.3% of his passes this season for 2,282 yards and 19 touchdowns for just three interceptions. On the ground, he loaded 74 times for 294 yards (4.0 yards per load) and added four scores. He hopes to see how the process will develop with his dreams at his fingertips.

“It’s been amazing,” said Mond. “Just sort of evaluating during the off season and trying to find the best version of me. Just getting away from my first year and it’s really all about growing up in every aspect of life. It was a great blessing and I had many excellent people around me. “
