Carlous Williams is committed to Gamecocks

The South Carolina basketball program made a commitment last night from a 2021 perspective ahead.

Carlous Williams didn’t wait long after his birthday to make his college appointment official. Shortly after the clock struck midnight on Wednesday morning, the Gulfport, Mississippi native pulled the trigger by choosing Gamecocks instead of offers from Baylor, Houston, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

A side player, Williams is classified by 247Sports as a three-star prospect, and the 54th best small striker in high school. He is seen as the second best player in the state of Magnolia. He becomes the third appointment in South Carolina’s current recruiting class, joining gun owner Devin Carter and combo owner Jacobi Wright.

Williams, who plans to sign with Gamecocks in April, pointed to the technical team as the reason for his commitment, in particular his recruiter Bruce Shingler. He offered the striker in July.

“I like Coach Shingler very much. He’s a really nice guy. He is very energetic and happy all the time. I like that about him; it brings good and positive energy. “

He also seems to be attracted to coach Frank Martin’s difficult teaching style and has built a strong relationship with the team as a whole.

“My coach said that coach Frank is a tough guy. He will train a lot and will motivate his players a lot. I need a coach like this, who is 100 percent real with me and will not hold anything and tell me how it is. I feel that South Carolina is the best place for me. “

Last year, Williams averaged 13.9 points and 7.9 rebounds in a competition. He is now looking to translate his game to the university level, joining a program that tries to take the next step with the SEC.

The South Carolina class is currently in 33rd national position, between Penn State and the University of Richmond. It is seen as the 4th best class in the Southeast Conference, behind only Arkansas, LSU and Vanderbilt.
