The negotiation of four successful teams involving the Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets, Indiana Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers ended on Saturday, but not before the Pacers received an additional second round choice and cash considerations due to an issue that was discovered during the physical examination of Caris LeVert.

At first, it was not clear exactly what this meant, but now we know that LeVert will be absent indefinitely after a small mass is discovered in his kidney. Pacers announced the news and said LeVert “will undergo more medical tests and more details will be needed”.

Pacers President Kevin Pritchard said: “We acquired Caris because of who he is as a young man in the first place. His skill in basketball and the court game speaks for itself and we know he has a great career ahead of him. “

LeVert also made a statement after the announcement:

“On behalf of my family and me, we want to thank Indiana Pacers for their support and guidance. We are grateful for their extreme meticulousness during the physical process and I look forward to joining the team and being part of this great organization as soon as possible. “

At this point, it is too early to have any idea when LeVert will be back on the court, but that is far from anyone’s top priority at the moment. It’s not just an injury, it’s something that can have a big impact on LeVert’s overall health going forward. Hopefully, he will have a good prognosis and will be able to recover soon.

For their part in switching four teams, which was highlighted by James Harden’s move to the Nets, the Pacers sent Victor Oladipo to the Rockets and picked up LeVert from the Nets and a second round choice from the Rockets. The Pacers are 8-4 this season, which means half a game behind first place in the Eastern Conference.
