Cargo truck playing music outside Nashville had no explosives, officials say

A Tennessee sheriff’s office said the driver of a cargo truck that was heard playing audio at a convenience store outside Nashville on Sunday was arrested for crimes. But officials say there were no explosives.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office says church members and customers at the market near where the white truck was spotted in Lebanon, about 25 miles east of Nashville, heard the driver playing an audio “similar to what was heard” before a recreational vehicle exploded in downtown Nashville on Christmas Day.

Sgt. Steve Craig says deputies were called in to investigate reports of the trucker playing “loud” audio outside the market and later found that the man was accused of similar actions outside a church during a service earlier in the day.

The Tennessee highway patrol said a robot was sent to investigate the truck and no devices were found.

Nearby residents were evacuated while the white truck was searched, reports CBS Nashville affiliate WTVF-TV.

The sheriff’s office said in a statement that driver James Turgeon, 33, was arrested and charged with two counts of crime of presenting a false report and one charge of tampering with evidence.

Officials say the charge of tampering with evidence was made because he “intentionally damaged the speaker system wiring”.

Turgeon is held for $ 500,000 bonds, officials said.
