Cardi B to star in ‘Assisted Living’

Cardi B landed her first leading role in a film. The hip-hop icon is set to star in Paramount’s next film, “Assisted Living”.

“Assisted Living” is being described as a “shrill comedy” with “shaking heart”, in the style of classic funny films like “Tootsie”, “Sister Act” and “Mrs. Doubt. ”It follows Amber (Cardi B), a little con artist who finds herself lost when a robbery goes wrong. Fleeing the police and her former team, she struggles to find a place to hide. Running out of options, Amber disguises herself as an elderly woman and hides in a place that no one will look at – her distant grandmother’s nursing home.

Paramount won the rights to “Assisted Living” in a bidding war in spring 2019. The film is based on an original script by Kay Oyegun, “This Is Us” screenwriter. Temple Hill and Stephen Love are producing.

Cardi B, the Grammy-winning artist behind hits like “Bodak Yellow”, “I Like It” and “WAP”, made her film debut alongside Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu and Keke Palmer in “Hustlers”, 2019 police drama about strippers who saw the game against their wealthy Wall Street clientele. She also secured a role in “F9”, the next entry in Universal’s “Fast & Furious” franchise.

The rap titan started on the VH1 reality show “Love and Hip-Hop”, in which she appeared from 2015 to 2017. Her first album, “Invasion of Privacy”, was released in 2018 and was certified with triple platinum.

In front of the television, Cardi B served as a judge on Netflix’s improvised musical competition series, “Rhythm + Flow”. Cardi, who led the series with Chance the Rapper and TI, was also the show’s executive producer.

Cardi B is represented by CAA, Washpoppin Inc, Patientce Foster of Cream Labs LLC, Ravi K. Shelton of Outlet Group LLC and LaPolt Law.
