Cardi B’s big hit, “Bodak Yellow”, was officially certified as a diamond, making her the first solo woman in rap to achieve that feat. The tremendous achievement was celebrated by a number of forces within the music industry, including Kodak Black, a man who strongly influenced the flow and title of the single. The track interpolates Kodak’s flow in “No Flockin”.

While Cardi has always given Kodak the credit he deserves for inspiring his diamond-certified single, the star was forced to clarify a few things on Twitter when a fan checked her out, asking why Kodak wasn’t making money from the song.

“He earned credit for the song,” she clarified on Twitter. “WE both got rich with the music until we died … The song is called Bodak Yellow for a reason. You enter this app saying the most stupid shit.” The post was shared on DJ Akademiks’ popular Instagram blog page, where Kodak Black gave a “like”. The original tweet was accompanied by a screenshot of a HotNewHipHop article from a few years ago, in which Kodak praised the superstar rapper. “This is my twin brother,” he said in January 2019, suggesting that if Cardi wins, he wins too.

Cardi B also spoke about her relationship with “WAP” collaborator Megan Thee Stallion in a recent interview, explaining that she was “too shy” to contact the rapper for almost an entire year.

Congratulations to Cardi B for being a diamond. And congratulations to Kodak also for being credited on a single diamond!
