Car accident kills 4-year-old girl in Brighton and injures 3 more

BRIGHTON, Mich. – Police are investigating a car accident that killed a 4-year-old girl in Livingston County on Friday.

Authorities say that around 11 pm on January 1, a 36-year-old man from Fayetteville, North Carolina, lost control of a vehicle while driving north on US-23, south of Highland Road. The 2006 Ford Expedition reportedly left the road and hit several trees.

According to the authorities, the man’s 33-year-old wife, son of 8 and daughter of 4 were passengers of the vehicle at the time of the accident. Police say the 4-year-old girl was ejected from the vehicle during the accident and died on the spot.

The driver, his wife and 8-year-old son were removed from the vehicle by the emergency team and taken to the hospital due to injuries. His injuries and specific conditions are currently unknown.

Livingston County Sheriff’s Office officials believe that excessive speed and alcohol appear to be the factors of the accident.

This investigation is ongoing.
