A Capitol riot suspect turned himself in to authorities after allegedly attacking police officers, punching a police officer and hitting others with a baseball bat during the attack on the federal building earlier this month, according to recent court documents.

Emanuel Jackson surrendered to the Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Department on Monday, when he admitted that he was involved in the January 6 violence and went further to identify himself positively in images of the day’s events and admitted to assaulting the police, according to an arrest warrant filed on Monday in DC federal court.

Several photos and videos of the Capitol siege show Jackson wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, a beige backpack and a blue mask that is sometimes below his nose or mouth.

As a crowd climbed the stairs to the entrance to the US Capitol Senate wing at around 2 pm on January 6, Jackson was reportedly seen in the surveillance video “clenching his fist and repeatedly hitting a US Capitol Police officer … when trying to forcefully enter the building “, affirm the court documents.

Shortly after 2:45 pm, when the crowd overpowered the police, Jackson was reportedly one of the first people to pass through the doors.

Hours later, at approximately 4:50 pm, as the crowd faced the police at the entrance to the West Terrance Capitol Building, Jackson appeared to be reportedly armed with a metal baseball bat.

“The defendant is observed repeatedly attacking a group of uniformed police officers from the U.S. Capitol and the Metropolitan Police Department with the baseball bat,” the court documents also claim.

He was accused on Monday of assaulting a United States official; assaulting a United States officer with a deadly or dangerous weapon; obstruction of an official procedure; illegal entry and physical violence in restricted buildings or land; and violent entry and disorderly conduct on the Capitol grounds, according to a criminal complaint.

A lawyer was not yet listed in the court records, and Jackson was not immediately available for comment.

Police officers previously said that 56 MPD and Capitol Police (USCP) officers were injured during the siege. A USCP officer, Brian Sicknick, died later as a result of the injuries sustained that day.

Four other people, including Air Force veteran Ashli ​​Babbitt, died during the insurrection.
