Voters were “tricked” that led to the riots that engulfed the Capitol in chaos and resulted in at least four deaths, Rep. Dan Crenshaw told Fox News on Thursday.
The Texas Republican came to Sens’s defense. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Josh Hawley, R-Mo., In an interview on “The Story”, after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y. he urged them to resign or face expulsion from Congress for their role in challenging the counting of the Electoral College.
“Let me be as clear as possible here. Senators Cruz and Hawley, I fundamentally disagree with them on the constitutionality of this process on January 6, [and] the ability of Congress to override any electoral votes, period, “Crenshaw told hostess Martha MacCallum.
“But,” he continued, “let’s be very honest. Senator Cruz and Senator Hawley were not exaggerating on January 6. They were not calling people to fight on the streets. They were not saying this is the last resistance That said, many members of Congress have done this, many commentators have done this, many in the media have been doing this for the past few weeks, saying constantly [that] this is our time to fight. “

The real battle to preserve electoral integrity must be fought “at the state level,” said Crenshaw. “This is where you resolve the important issue of electoral integrity, and they lied to people saying, ‘Fight, go to fight, because everything is at stake.'”
The former Navy SEAL noted that when the protesters violated the Capitol, the “same members of Congress who called on people to fight, they were nowhere to be seen. Because it was all fun and games for them.”
“They never knew what a real fight was,” continued Crenshaw. “Real fights are scary. Bullets flying, this is scary. Breaking glass, this is really scary.
“They were nowhere, they spread out. They talked about the courage to get up, the courage to fight for weeks and weeks, but when the time came, there was no courage.”
Then, an emotional Crenshaw emphasized his support for preserving the integrity of the democratic process.

“I know I’m not going to lie to you,” he told viewers. “I’m going to tell you where we have to do the hard work and we have to change these laws at the state level because these laws are vague. They don’t give people confidence.
“We heard you,” he said, “but we have to come together and work at the state level and change these things.”
