* More from Politico …
Rising districts: Deputy Kam Buckner’s 26th district, which includes the Gold Coast and the Lakeshore East venture – new since the 2010 census – saw a population increase of 6%. The Ann Williams area of Lincoln Park area increased by 10 percent. And the Andersonville neighborhood, represented by the majority leader in the House, Greg Harris, saw a population increase of 6%.
Republican-led districts in the Chicago metropolitan area have also seen population growth. Representative Mark Batinick’s 97th district increased by 10 percent, and Representative Dan Ugaste’s 65th district increased by 7 percent.
Declining districts: Democratic representatives. The 67th district of Maurice West in Rockford, the 28th district of Bob Rita on the far South Side and the 113th district of Jay Hoffman in the Metro East area, all lost about 5% of the population.
Republican MP Patrick Windhorst, whose 118th district is in southern Illinois, also saw the population drop 5 percent from 2010 to 2018. And so did the western Illinois area, represented by Republican MP Noreen Hammond in the 93rd district.
To discuss.
