Mayor Lori Lightfoot said on Thursday that she is trying to reopen Chicago’s bars and restaurants for internal service as soon as possible.

“If we look at the various criteria that the state has established, we are meeting most, if not all, then this is a conversation I will have with the governor,” she said.

Would it be too much to ask if people did check the mayor from time to time? I know she’s the mayor and all, but still.

1) The city’s 7-day continuous positivity rate is 9.8%. It has been between 9.8 and 10.5 last week. According to the criteria established by the state, the opening of restaurants requires a positivity rate less than or equal to 6.5% for three days.

2) Chicago’s emergency medical hospital beds have been below the 20% limit for 8 consecutive days. According to IDPH, that level is currently at 17.5%.
