Capcom leading the remake of Resident Evil 4 in a new direction

M-Two role ‘significantly reduced’

A new report suggests that Capcom’s unannounced remake resident Evil 4 it is currently undergoing a kind of restructuring. Although it was previously reported that Japanese studio M-Two was leading the project, new development rumors claim that Capcom is taking over after alleged disagreements over the direction of the project.

The report, obtained by the VGC, suggests that M-Two expressed a desire to keep the remake of the 2005 horror classic relatively faithful, concerned with reaction to the changes in 2020 Resident Evil 3. Capcom reportedly sees the opposite, wanting to take a risk, pointing Leon and Ashley’s famous adventure in a new direction.

As a result, there are rumors that M-Two’s role in the development of resident Evil 4 is now “significantly reduced”, which Capcom reportedly bringing its Division 1 team Devil May Cry V fame) to carry out most of the design and development of the remake. This team restructuring is expected to cause a significant delay for resident Evil 4, with sources suggesting that it will not see daylight until 2023.

Of course, there is an amusing observation in the fact that the resident Evil 4 remake does not technically exist – since Capcom has not yet officially announced the title. But given the commercial success of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, as well as the specifically legendary status of the series’ fourth main entry in the survival horror franchise, such a remake is as inevitable as a belly-to-belly suplex in a Los Ganados farmer.
