It’s time to get evasive
Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition players can get their hands on the new V-Shift mechanics for the first time later tonight, and now we can all see exactly how it works.
Capcom has now launched the SF5 game tutorial for V-Shift and V-Shift Break that fully breaks below the new mechanic, including how much damage it does and what happens if it is blocked.
As previously revealed, both V-Shift and V-Shift Break are performed by pressing a strong punch and medium kick together while a player has at least a stock of V-Gauge available.
The novelty, however, is that it confirms that V-Shift Break attacks will be safe on the block, at the top of its extended range, so it looks like a fair trade for causing only recoverable damage.
Speaking of damage, we will also see an example of a combination that follows the V-Shift, which causes regular damage.
Not only that, but I tested it to see if attacks after dodge will be immediately reduced as V-Trigger activations. However, I can report confidentially that the combo appears to cause normal and off-scale damage.
The Break attack appears to cause a comparable amount of damage compared to V-Reversals, which is not surprising.
V-Shift will arrive on SF5 in the update of the 5th season, which will be officially on the air tomorrow, although the servers are in maintenance today from 20h PT.
