Cancellations, closings and delays on site due to winter storm

SALT LAKE CITY – Wednesday’s snowstorm is causing some schools and organizations to cancel or delay their activities. We are collecting a list of cancellations, closings and delays known below.

The following list is not exhaustive. Check with your school district or other organization and update this page for updates.

CLOSED OR DELAYED SCHOOLS

  • The American Academy of Innovation will be closed on Wednesday. Face-to-face and online classes are canceled.
  • Escola Católica Santíssimo Sacramento – Today we are closed because of weather conditions and roads.
  • Canyons School District – Wednesday is a day of remote learning for all students in the Canyons School District due to the forecast of heavy snow and dangerous road conditions. “This means that all schools and district offices will be closed during the day, but instruction will continue according to the new state rules that allow school districts to treat” snow days “as remote learning days,” says a statement. school district.
  • Juan Diego Catholic Schools – Due to the extreme weather and dangerous road conditions, schools were canceled at Juan Diego Catholic Schools. Classes will resume Thursday.
  • Provo City School District Bus Service – Due to the icy conditions on the roads in the banks this morning, collection below the bank is necessary to ensure that students on our buses are safe.   • Salt Lake Community College – Due to bad weather, all SLCC departments and face-to-face classes are canceled until 12:00 PM. Online classes can continue. Go to http://www.slcc.edu for information or call 801-957-INFO.
  • St. Francis Xavier School in Kearns is closed.
  • The University of Utah canceled face-to-face classes before 11:00 am on Wednesday. “Instructors who can change their face-to-face classes online are encouraged to do so and must communicate directly with their students about any changes,” says an alert from the university. “Delay in starting will not affect online classes or campus employees who are already working remotely.”

The health care system and hospitals in the United States will remain open, as will the essential functions of the university, supported by mandatory employees on campus. Daycare centers run by universities will provide updates directly to families.

  • Waterford School – Due to snow, Waterford School will also be closed today. Is this a good place to share information?

OPEN SCHOOLS

  • Alpine School District – All schools will be on their regular schedule today, Wednesday, February 17, 2021.
  • Davis School District – All schools in the Davis School District will open as scheduled this morning. Our buses will be running on time and all parking lots must be clean at 7am. As always, if parents find the conditions to be too dangerous for their children, they have the option of keeping them at home. Our teachers will work with any student who is absent, so they can complete the missing assignments.
  • Granite School District – All schools are open. That said, we don’t know what your driveway and neighborhood looks like. So, as always, parents must exercise their discretion and make decisions in the best interest of their family whether to travel to school this morning or not. Schools will be flexible with absences and delays. If you decide to participate, be careful, take your time and be safe.
  • Schools in the Jordan district will open as scheduled today. We ask that you be careful in and around our schools and buildings, as reports indicate that snowfalls can continue during the day, creating winter conditions on roads and sidewalks.
  • Logan School District – It’s snowing outside, so be careful on the way to school! Road crews are clearing the streets, and while we know that some side streets will not be plowed until later, the main roads are open and buses are running. Drive carefully and give yourself a little extra space and time while traveling. As always, if parents decide to keep their children at home, contact the school office to excuse the absence.
  • Ogden School District – All schools will operate on their regular schedule today. Plan to set aside more time for the trip this morning. This will allow students to receive the meals they depend on and the safe place they depend on.
  • Tooele County School District – Dugway School will start 2 hours late (start time is 10am). All other TCSD schools will be open and ready to receive students at the normal start time.
  • Weber State University will have all classes scheduled for today. Set aside extra time if you need to travel to campus. Drive Wildcats safely.

PUBLIC FACILITIES

  • Fourth Street Clinic – We are opening later than expected today due to the snow. The clinic will be open at 10am this morning
  • Midvale City Hall offices will open at midday on Wednesday, 17 January. The Court of Justice will open almost at 9 am (hearings will take place at the scheduled time).
  • Holladay City Hall will NOT open until 11am. call 801-272-9450 in advance to make sure the team is available. The hearings of the Virtual Court of Justice WILL NOT BE delayed. The Court of Justice will open at approximately 8 am (hearings will take place as scheduled).
  • The branches of the Salt Lake County library will open at noon.
  • Utah Labor Force Services Department – Our offices in Salt Lake County, Park City and Tooele will be delayed opening at 10 am today due to snowy road conditions. All others will open at 8am. Our services can also be accessed online at http://jobs.utah.gov.

OTHER

  • The offices of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Salt Lake City area will not open until 11 am. “Service workers and missionaries are not expected to be working before this time. Employees who already work from home will work a normal work day,” says an LDS church press release.
  • Salt Lake City International Airport – Crews have been clearing snow from the airfield since early this morning. Passengers are reminded to check their airlines for possible delays or cancellations. It is always a good idea to reserve extra time. Safe travel!
  • The city of Alta Interlodge will remain in effect overnight and until further notice. Reminder: Interlodge for the city is not suspended until @ MarshalMike1 and Alta Central send notifications. Natural avalanches continue to occur. Stay inside. Stay safe.
