Canceled Castlevania Game Castlevania Resurrection Demo

Resurrection of Castlevania is a canceled Dreamcast title that was created in 1666 and would have Sonia Belmont and Victor Belmont meeting through time travel. Long thought lost and seen as a holy grail for video game collectors and archaeologists, it was known by a small fan base that had been shown to the press, but nothing more. It was finally found and the gameplay was even posted online, which is remarkable considering how much time has passed since it last saw the light of day.

The game is currently not online for everyone to play and experience at the moment, as although its owner has preserved the disc, they are apparently happy to show off the disc and gameplay and do nothing else. Fair enough, but considering how fragile the disks are, it would be a pity if an adequate backup was not made for preservation purposes.

The game’s story would have Victory Belmont as a 1800s vampire hunter who “abandoned her bloodline and left the area in fear of her fate as a vampire killer. Players would face a vampire woman as their primary opponent.” the game was never released? Well, according to the artistic director of the title Greg Orduyan, Konami didn’t trust Dreamcast, which is a strange logic considering that they could then have it released for the PS2 … but I’m digressing.

In the demo, there are 5 environments and a boss fight that are at a stage of the game, and most areas are not connected to each other. One does not load and all can be accessed through the Start menu. It is an initial beta and is not close to being a finished product. Still, it’s definitely a cool part of gaming history that was thought to be lost and, even if it’s not released publicly, at least we know it still exists.
