Can WandaVision: Scarlet Witch get pregnant and have children with vision?

Young couples hardly survive without an older relative asking when they are going to have children. And you can’t do WandaVision without comic book fans asking if they are going to have children, just like in the comics.

But “Do the Scarlet Witch and the Vision have children?” it’s a more complicated question than you might think, and the answers are “Yes”, “No, they died” and “Yes, they are teen superheroes now” simultaneously. Let’s unpack this.

[Ed. note: If you want to go into WandaVision without knowing anything about the show, skip this post. There are some comics details that might be considered spoilers, and spoilers for the series’ second episode.]

In the second episode of WandaVision it ends with a surprise and a great provocation: Wanda’s sudden onset pregnancy. But honestly, it’s no stranger than the powers of Wanda or Vision – or that they seem to be trapped in a world that is reeling in a new decade of the show’s history every day.

In the comics, Wanda and Visão have children. Well, famously, you can say. And although we can’t say whether it will look like this on the show, here’s the history of comics that the creators of WandaVision could be pulling.

Excellent Billy and Tommy adventure

In the continuity of the Marvel comics, the Scarlet Witch and Vision have twin boys: Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepherd. Billy, known as Wiccan (or Asgardian, or Demiurge), inherited the magical powers of reality distortion from the Scarlet Witch. Tommy, known as Speed, was similar to Wanda’s twin brother Pietro / Quicksilver. He’s very fast, you know.

You may be wondering why Billy and Tommy have different surnames and why none of those surnames are from Wanda. It is because they are actually the reincarnations of the dead twins of the Scarlet Witch and Vision, unknowingly, created by two different pairs of completely normal biological parents.

The Scarlet Witch and the Vision were married in 1975 Avengers # 4, and in 1986 The vision and the scarlet witch, the two had a pair of twin boys, Billy and Tommy. How does a robot generate children? Well, you don’t have to worry about biological logistics when your wife is a witch who can use her powers to transform magical energy into real babies.

But comics are not kind to couples who have to deal with boring narrative obstacles like “who’s taking care of the kids while we fight the bad guys” and “given the tenuous nature of time in superhero comics, how old are these babies? ”In 1989 Avengers West Coast # 52, it was revealed that babies were made from the energy of hell and Mephisto wanted it back. The supreme demon in Marvel comics undid the babies of Wanda and Vision, and they were left without children (and divorced, for unrelated reasons) once again.

Wiccan wears a headband and a tattered red cape as an accessory, while Speed wears protective glasses with yellow lenses and his hair is completely white.

In the 2000s, Billy and Tommy were reintroduced as teen superheroes and recruited into the Young Avengers team. During a series of adventures, they discovered that Mephisto had not been completely successful in reabsorbing the souls of baby Billy and Tommy. These souls were reincarnated, as children of completely normal humans Jeff and Rebecca Kaplan and Frank and Mary Shepherd, respectively.

Although they had different mothers and fathers and grew up in completely different families, Billy and Tommy were exactly the same and were twins. And the Scarlet Witch was his mother, and the Vision was his father.

Will WandaVision use that much?

Probably not, and that’s okay. Perhaps Wanda and Vision have twin babies with superpowers. Perhaps they have twin babies that eventually turn out to be a great magic trick. Perhaps they only have normal twin babies (although this result is so mundane that it seems the least likely event).

All we can say now is that Wanda definitely looks pregnant, and there are a lot of different comic book elements that the creators of WandaVision could pull to make it as strange as possible.
