HOUSTON – KPRC 2 received a lot of e-mail, social media comments and phone calls related to the confusion over the state’s recently revealed vaccine distribution hub system, and a question continues to arise: Can I make an appointment to visit a hub that is not located in the same municipality where I live?
The short answer is yes.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott said on Monday that there are no geographical restrictions on the centers that Texas residents can visit. Thus, residents of Galveston County, Montgomery, County, Fort Bend County, etc., can make appointments at any of the three operating centers in Harris County.

The most likely problem that people will encounter is scheduling an appointment.
“It took 3 hours,” Mac McClendon, the director of the Harris County Public Health Preparedness Office for Public Health said on Tuesday. “We opened and the 8,000 vaccines ran out so quickly.”
McClendon said he was not sure, but he expects Harris County Public Health to be able to secure another shipment of another 8,000 doses to be administered next week. He said he is forced to wait for news from Austin, as the state controls the distribution of the vaccine.
