No. There are no food restrictions – including alcohol – that residents need to consider in relation to the vaccine. However, drinking to excess before or after the vaccine is likely to make any potential side effects – such as headache or body pain – more unpleasant.

The ingredient in the vaccine that is being targeted as the most likely culprit behind allergic reactions is polyethylene glycol. The chemical is needed to maintain the outer coating of MRNA, allowing it to enter cells and produce the spike protein.
PEG is very common in medicines, cosmetics and even laxatives. Due to concern, any known allergy to PEG, or cross-reactive chemical polysorbate, is a reason for not receiving MNRA COVID vaccines.
We don’t have that information yet and, unfortunately, the only way to find out is to continue studying it over time.
If it seems arbitrary, it is because it is. The age difference is simply related to how data from the original study – which was submitted to the FDA for emergency authorization – was collected. There was a significant debate before the minimum age for the Pfizer vaccine was made 16, instead of 18.
Side effects are the same for both doses, but are significantly more common after the second dose because the immune system was activated by the first dose. In addition, side effects are more common in people under 55.
