Camera footage shows the second arrest of a woman without a mask, this time at the Texas City store

HOUSTON – On Friday, Texas city police released videos from the cameras of the bodies of two officers involved in the arrest of a woman without a mask.

Terry Wright is accused of refusing to wear a mask inside a store in Texas. A few days earlier, she was accused of resisting arrest and criminal invasion for the same act inside a Galveston bank. This incident came a day after Texas suspended the mask’s mandate across the state.

On Wednesday, shortly after 9 am, Texas city police said they responded to an Office Depot at 9550 Emmett F Lowry Expy, where a woman inside the store refused to wear a mask or leave the store.

According to footage from the body camera, the first police officer arrived at the store and was greeted by an employee. As the police officer approaches, the woman shouts information on her phone and leans against a cashier in front of the store.

The policeman said to the woman, “If you refuse to leave, you will go to jail for trespassing.”

“You can not. You want to read this, ”Wright replied as he directed the officer to look at her phone. “These are my federal rights.”

Wright refused to leave the store, and the officer started handcuffing her while she resisted and told the officer that she was violating her rights. By this time, another officer had arrived at the scene and helped handcuff and escort Wright out of the store.

In the other video from the body camera, the second officer entered the store and approached Wright, who was being detained by another officer.

“This is a serious violation,” Wright said repeatedly while being handcuffed by police officers.

“I’m trying to teach you my rights,” she said later, as she left the store.

While the two policemen escorted her out of the store, they discovered that Wright was also involved in the Bank of America incident in Galveston last week. They contacted Galveston police and confirmed that Wright had two arrest warrants against her related to the Galveston incident.

She was detained on a criminal intrusion charge, with a bail set at $ 1,000, and a search for resistance to arrest or transportation charges, with a bail set at $ 1,500, according to the Texas City Police Department.

No additional charges were recorded in relation to the Office Depot incident, according to the statement.

According to the videos, there were at least three police officers at the scene.
