New England Patriots star Cam Newton talked about an interaction with a stubborn young man in a seven against seven tournament that has since gone viral.
The questioner said Newton was “about to get poor” because he is expected to become a free agency this season. The 2015 MVP responded by wanting to speak to the child’s father:
Newton later wrote on Instagram that he “wanted to have a man-to-man conversation” with his father and referred to his previous work with youth soccer players:
Newton also shared what happened right after the clip that circulated on social media:
Several athletes gave their opinion on the situation:

Dude, I would like to have NFL players in my 7 against 7. Let alone an elite player like Cam Newton. Reality check, you have a guy who reached every mile we dreamed of as kids. You should be choosing his brain, being a sponge. There is an annoying fly that did not damage him https://t.co/b1gENqCCPr
There is no doubt that Newton’s value has suffered a blow since his early years with the Carolina Panthers, so he signed a one year, $ 1.8 million contract with the Patriots.
As many have pointed out, going after the 31-year-old doesn’t make sense, given what he accomplished in college and in the NFL.
Newton threw a central role at the national Auburn championship in 2010, the same year he raised the Heisman Trophy. He also guided the Carolina Panthers to the Super Bowl 50 in 2015, where they fell short of the Denver Broncos.
And while Newton had to accept a big reduction in payment for the original $ 21.1 million hit ceiling wage he originally was supposed to have in 2020, Spotrac estimates that it raised $ 122.5 million from its NFL contracts alone.
If this is “poor”, then many people would love to switch places with the Pro Bowler three times.
