California’s missing mother told the family that she would be the husband if ‘something’ happens

EXCLUSIVE: Almost three months after the disappearance of a mother of three in California, her family and her lawyer are revealing chilling new details about their troubled marriage before she disappeared.

Maya Millete, 39, disappeared on January 7, the same day she made an appointment with the divorce attorney for the following week.

Maya’s brother-in-law, Richard Drouaillet, said the marital problems between her and her husband, Larry Millete, started long before that, claiming that Larry constantly sought out Maya’s family to try to get her help to fix the relationship throughout 2020.

“He was more of an assailant, trying to get us involved,” Drouaillet told Fox News. “He was trying to put us on his side, when we felt it was a lot of lies that he was telling us.”

Drouaillet remembered a phone call of almost an hour in late summer 2020, in which Larry asked for his advice.

“He looked desperate, you know, ‘You need to hear me. It’s her fault, it’s her fault,'” said Drouaillet.

The last time Richard Drouaillet and his wife, Maricris, saw Larry and Maya Millete was at a camp in early January, just a few days before she disappeared.

A member of Maya’s family, who wishes to remain anonymous, told Fox News exclusively about a disturbing statement she made about her loved ones over the holidays, warning, “If something happened to me, it would be Larry.”

Larry Millete did not respond to questions from Fox News about Maya’s alleged concerns about her safety.

Richard Drouaillet’s wife, Maricris, told NBC7 that they saw “many discussions” between the Milletes on that trip.

“Sometimes we are also uncomfortable with this,” Maricris Drouaillet told the news agency. “But you know, we were just praying and hoping that they would be able to work this out. We didn’t see it happen, you know, after that.”

Family members also told Fox News that they are not as frank as they would like, as they are also afraid of Larry.

A Chula Vista Police Department spokesman told Fox News that they have found no evidence of a crime and have no suspects, but the department “will continue to investigate any and all leads we receive”.

“We certainly have people who remain crucial witnesses to his disappearance. We are in frequent communication with our regional partners on this case and we are working to identify the evidence, locate it, analyze it and follow where to go,” a spokesman for the Department. of Chula Vista Police, Eric Thunberg told Fox News on Sunday.

“We understand and recognize the feeling of frustration in the Maya family and the community.”

Thunberg went on to say that the department knows about these charges and is investigating each one.

Maya Millete was reported missing on January 9, two days after her disappearance.

Billy Little, a lawyer at the Cold Case Foundation who has worked with Maya’s family, said Larry allowed him to walk around the Milletes home on January 11.

“The windows were all open, the fans at maximum, it was a little cold. It looked like he was cleaning,” Little told Fox News on Saturday. “I talked to him for a while, asked if I could see the room. I went up to the room, that’s when I saw the … hole in the door, right next to the doorknob.”

Larry would have blamed Maya for the hole in the door.

The messages Larry Millete sent to the Maya family became increasingly bizarre throughout 2020, the Maya family said.

In September, he sent a photo to one of Maya’s family members who appears to show an altar with the couple covered in blood spatter and surrounded by candles, according to Little.

“He did some extreme s —,” said Richard Drouaillet.

Larry Millete did not answer several questions about the altar image.
