The explosion shook houses in the neighborhood.
A “large amount” of fireworks in a home sparked a “fire in a large structure” and an explosion reported in Ontario, California, according to the city and the fire department.
“The explosions being heard are from fireworks right now,” tweeted city officials. “Please stay away from the area.”
One resident, whose home shook, thought it was an earthquake. Another neighbor told the Los Angeles ABC KABC station that the explosion shattered his windows.
A man told KABC that he saw people running and screaming.
Ontario is about 40 miles east of Los Angeles.
