Cadillac unveiled the Lyriq electric crossover infotainment system, while automakers are placing a greater emphasis on user experience to help compete with Tesla.

Last year, GM unveiled the Cadillac Lyriq electric SUV, the first electric vehicle to use GM’s Ultium platform.

It has achieved many points to make the EV community happy: great design, 300 mile range, 150 kW fast charging and more. The main concern was the price, which GM did not announce at the time.

Steve Carlisle, president of General Motors North America, confirmed that the Cadillac Lyriq will cost less than $ 60,000.

GM plans to bring the Cadillac Lyriq to market in 2022.

At CES, Cadillac plans to reveal a new user experience in its vehicles.

Bill Thompson, senior manager of UI design at GM, commented:

When designing the Cadillac user interface, we started with a vision, but we recognized that we would need a new perspective and new ways of thinking to make it a reality. That’s when Rightpoint and Territory Studio came on the scene. Both teams are incredibly talented and brought a new perspective that allowed us to design a personalized and elegant user-focused experience.

The new user interface will arrive on the Cadillac Lyriq in a huge 33-inch diagonal LED display.

They released this video of the user experience on Lyriq:

Electrek’s opinion: they have to compete with Tesla

Earlier today, we reported on Mercedes-Benz revealing a huge “hyper screen” inside the EQS electric sedan.

Now, Cadillac is also revealing a user experience built around a large touchscreen.

I’ve been saying for some time that the Tesla’s user interface is unmatched in the auto industry.

Many car manufacturers are relying on Apple Carplay and Android Auto, but I think they need to focus on their native system.

I am happy to see Mercedes-Benz and Cadillac working on this – although we will test them to see how much improvement they have achieved.
