It looks like someone working on the cactus props at the Super Nintendo World theme park at Universal Studios Japan may have inadvertently built them to look like some cacti that appear New Super Mario Bros Wii fan mod. Oops!
As noted by Twitter user Meatball132, the cacti in question can be clearly seen in a recorded video and uploaded through the YouTube channel News from universal parks today.
The cacti can be seen on the Yoshi’s Adventure tour. These props don’t look like the same cactus models seen in the fan mod, Super Mario Bros Wii latest, but instead, they are almost identical replicas. You can even see a cactus on the Super Nintendo World that has a pink flower placed in the same place as the mod’s cactus.
As pointed out by Meatball132, it seems that whoever was working on this prop may have just searched on Google for “New Super Mario Bros Wii cactus ”and did not realize that the cactus that appeared as one of the best results was not from an official game, but from a fan mod released in 2013.
I can’t wait for Nintendo to send Nintendo and Universal to stop and give up.
What’s more, this is not the first example of people discovering fan-made content being used by the Super Nintendo World. Last month, an artist suggested that Nintendo and Universal have used the artist’s 3D rendering of Mario on the park’s official website. What kind of tattered ship are they controlling over there?
