BYU Basketball: 3 takeaways of the Cougars’ 80-52 victory over the Pacific

BYU improved to 16-5 overall and 7-3 in the WCC game with a sweeping victory over the Pacific.

Here are three lessons from the cougars’ victory.

  • After a back-and-forth start to the competition with both teams exchanging baskets, BYU was gone forever with about eight minutes to go for the first half. Just one point after Jordan Bell’s 3-point basket, the Cougars closed the interval in an 18-7 race to rise 38-26 in the interval. BYU kept up the pressure in the second half, beating the Tigers by 42-26.
  • Caleb Lohner led the Cougars with 19 points and nine rebounds. He hit 6 out of 8 on the field, including 5 out of 6 in the 3-point range. His 19 points marked his career at BYU.
  • Four BYU players scored double digits on a full offensive night for the cougars. Lohner led the team with 19, while Alex Barcello and Trevin Knell scored 15 points each and Brandon Averette added 10.
