BYU Basketball: 3 points in double win in 95-87 overtime for Pacific Tigers

In an intense round-trip battle most of the night, the BYU Cougars finally pulled away from the Pacific Tigers in the double overtime on Saturday night at the Marriott Center in Provo and finally won 95-87.

Here are three keys to the game.

  • After a second half and the first overtime in which neither team achieved a lead greater than four points, BYU scored the first five of the second extra session to win some separation. The cougars scored 20 in the final five minutes and the Tigers were unable to keep pace.
  • BYU’s court of defense consisting of Brandon Averette and Alex Barcello combined 47 points in the night, including 11 in the double overtime. Averette scored 24 in the night and Barcello 23.
  • That night, the cougars won the battles for rebounds, assists and thefts to help them out with the victory.
