Buy a Tesla before 2021 and get Full Self-Driving for free, says Elon Musk

Hurry, this business will not last. Seriously.

Tesla

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is making marketing moves on Twitter as we head into the last days of 2020. On Tuesday night, Musk tweeted that anyone who buys a new Tesla will receive three months in Full Self- Driving the company for free. Access to software, which remains in beta and not complete, usually costs $ 10,000 extra just to try.

All new Teslas come with a form of the company’s Autopilot system, a level 2 technology partially automated on the SAE’s autonomy scale, but Full Self-Driving hopes to someday live up to its name. The company implemented technology for limited groups of drivers earlier this year and plans expand invitations to those who have paid for the option to take advantage of the resources. Even Tesla says the system can do the wrong thing at the wrong time, so it’s definitely not ready for hands-free driving, but many owners have found it works well with a lot of supervision.

To take advantage of Musk’s latest flash deal, buyers need to complete all documents and receive delivery by December 31 at midnight, so it’s probably best to buy Teslas currently in stock if you really want the Full Self-Driving gift. We also heard earlier this month that Tesla authorized its team to play free Supercharging again for those who buy a new EV while the automaker pushes for record deliveries in 2020.

We won’t know if the tactic worked until early next year, but Musk is kind of a master at encouraging fans to buy when needed.
