Busta Rhymes reveals how a DM to professional bodybuilder Dexter Jackson helped him drop an incredible 100 pounds and transform his life: ‘I didn’t spend any time taking care of myself’
In just 12 months, rapper Busta Rhymes (born Trevor George Smith Jr) lost a notable 100-pound weight and regained control of his health.
The 48-year-old opened up about the perception that his weight had gotten out of control and was negatively affecting his health in a new interview for Men’s Health Magazine.
Busta revealed that his fitness journey came after he fell for direct messages from professional bodybuilder Dexter Jackson who trained the Conglomerate star at the gym.

While working on his latest album, Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God, Rhymes said he was the least healthy person who has ever been in his life, but was working hard to realize.
“Believe it or not, I made the album when I was in the prime of my health,” he told Men’s Health. ‘I was so focused on making music the best it could be, I didn’t spend any time taking care of myself.’
After struggling with sleep apnea and discovering that he had developed throat polyps that blocked 90% of his breath, the hip hop star knew he needed to take control.

The biggest step towards his health goals came by chance when he was tagged on an Instagram by professional bodybuilder Dexter Jackson, who was working on one of his songs.
“I hit him at the DM, I told him I needed his help, I gave him my number and he answered me immediately,” said Busta, seeing the tag as a kind of divine intervention.
