Burt Reynolds’ ashes are placed in the Hollywood Forever cemetery … more than two years after his death

Burt Reynolds’ ashes were placed in a lakeside grave at the Hollywood Forever cemetery in Los Angeles on Thursday.

A family Zoom ceremony was held in memory of the actor, who died at the age of 82 in a hospital in Jupiter, Florida, on September 6, 2018 and was later created after his death, the AP reported.

This occurs after a small memorial with the presence of friends and loved ones in the weeks following his death.

A temporary tombstone bearing the actor’s name was placed at the grave site, with plans to install a bust of the iconic artist. It was not immediately clear why the project schedule was extended.

Tyler Cassity, co-owner and president of the cemetery, told the AP that there are plans to reveal the bust this fall, to coincide with the third anniversary of the death of the Boogie Nights star.

Reynolds’ grave was decorated with flowers, a wreath and a small toy car similar to the Trans Am that he directed in the films Smokey and Bandit.

It is located in the section of the establishment that is also the final resting place for actor Tyrone Power and musical stars Johnny Ramone and Chris Cornell.

The monetary and legal aspects of Reynolds’ estate were fully settled last year, with his niece Nancy Hess overseeing the transactions.

At the time of his death, Reynolds was scheduled to appear in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, playing Spahn ranch owner George Spahn. (Bruce Dern played the role after Reynolds’s death.)

“My uncle was looking forward to working with Quentin Tarantino and the incredible cast that was put together,” said Hess after Reynolds’ death in the film, which featured Leonardo DiCaprio, Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt, the latter winning an Oscar for his efforts.
