Burger King customer opens fire through drive-thru window during a long wait: report

Some people understand the term “fast food” a bit too literally.

Tennessee officials are looking for a woman who allegedly shot at a Burger King’s drive-through window. Fortunately, restaurant staff managed to escape through the back door and no injuries were reported.

The Memphis Police Department posted about the Facebook incident, which took place at a Burger King in Memphis on Tuesday, March 30. According to the post, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Witnesses said the woman was upset about the delay in waiting at the drive-through. She reportedly got out of the vehicle and approached the window, where she started to argue with one of the workers.

The woman then reportedly returned to her vehicle (of which she was not the driver) and recovered a weapon. Authorities say she went back to the drive-through window, leaned against the restaurant and fired several times.

The woman then returned to her car, which left the scene.

Memphis police wrote on Facebook that restaurant employees fled through the back door and left unscathed.

The Facebook post also included several images of security cameras showing the woman leaning out the window and pointing a gun into the restaurant.

Memphis police wrote: “Upon arriving at the scene, the police were warned that a customer was irritated by the waiting time to be served at the drive-thru window. Four doors, gray sedan and approached the car window. A verbal altercation ensued between the boss and the workers.Video surveillance shows the suspect retrieving a black gun from the vehicle, extending his upper body through the drive-thru window, and firing several shots at the Burger King workers. “

The post continued: “The workers fled the shooting through the back door of the business and left unscathed. The suspect was accompanied by a man who was the driver of the gray sedan.”
