In the summer of 2019, Bugatti unveiled the impressive Centodieci, a limited edition tribute to a 90s supercar that sold out in a few hours. Now, two years later, the luxury brand has lowered the curtain of the first prototype for series development, setting the wheels in motion for production.
Limited to just 10 examples, the multi-million dollar hypercar pays homage to Bugatti’s 110-year history (Centodieci means 110 in Italian), as well as Romano Artioli’s iconic EB110.
While the Centodieci features engineering similar to its limited edition siblings, the Chiron and the Divo, its angular style is similar to the classic ’90s ride, although a little more refined. It has the characteristic angular silhouette of the EB110, along with the same engine glass cover, small horseshoe-shaped grille and five round side air vents.
The Centodieci is equipped with an 8.0-liter W-16 engine with 1,600 hp.

There are, of course, modern touches. At the rear, the Centodieci is equipped with a light bar instead of the two oval lights from its predecessor and four exhaust pipes instead of the original two. The rear wing also reflects that of the EB110, but can be adjusted if desired.
Of course, it is much more powerful as well. Under the hood, the Centodieci is equipped with an 8.0-liter W-16 engine that is expected to produce an impressive 1,600 hp and propel the vehicle from zero to 62 mph in 2.4 seconds. The EB110’s 3.5-liter V-12, on the other hand, produces only 603 hp in the most turbocharged version. The Centodieci is also 20 kilos lighter than the Chiron and carries 100 horses more than the Chiron and Divo.
“Our goal was to create a modern interpretation of the shape and technology of the time: but at the same time, we didn’t want to lose the charm and character of the EB 110,” said Achim Anscheidt, design director at Bugatti. in a statement.
Bugatti expects the Centodieci to be launched next year.

Needless to say, each Centodieci requires an arduous amount of work and goes through body, aerodynamics, engine and transmission calculations before countless tests and simulations take place. At the same time, the design team checks that the style is correct. Basically, the team needs to ensure that the mobile chassis is capable of all the functions of the transmission system and that the exterior of the car can handle that brave engine.
“In the coming months, in addition to building the exterior and making more advanced simulations in the wind tunnel, we are looking forward to entering the test track to start tuning the chassis,” added André Kullig, Bugatti’s technical project manager for occasional events, he added.
Bugatti expects the $ 9.6 million (€ 8 million) hand-made Centodieci hypercars to be launched for the 10 lucky customers next year.
