Bucs GM Jason Licht has an epic response to the Lombardi Trophy designer’s daughter in search of excuses

If Lorraine Grohs is looking for an apology about Tom Brady’s handling of the Lombardi Trophy during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl boat parade last week, she certainly will not receive it from general manager Jason Licht.

Licht, like almost everyone on the Internet, saw the viral video of Grohs, the goldsmith’s daughter who created the original Vince Lombardi Trophy, saying he felt he was “dishonored and disrespected” when Brady threw his boat’s trophy to another Player Bucs on another boat.

“I was very upset that this trophy was dishonored and disrespected for being played like a real football,” she said in the video posted on Saturday. “I haven’t slept in the last two nights because of that, I was very upset. Because I know the passion that this trophy brings.”

She continued, “I personally would like an apology, not just for me and my family, and the other goldsmiths, but for the fans.”

Licht commented directly on the video posted on Twitter with a GIF of Bill Murray’s popular 1981 film, “Stripes”.

“Cheer up, Francis,” said the message.

It is certainly not the first time that the Lombardi Trophy is in less than favorable situations.

After winning the Super Bowl in 2019 with the New England Patriots, Rob Gronkowski was celebrating with his team when he used the trophy as a bat and hit teammate Julian Edelman quickly, damaging the prize.

He even joked immediately after the Bucs’ victory that that was the reason he still hadn’t managed to hold the trophy.

The Bucs celebrated their first Super Bowl victory since 2003, and Licht, the first since taking over in 2014.
