BTS Top IFPI Album Sales Chart for 2020

It is the latest in an IFPI tribute package for the boy band, who was also named 2020 Global Recording Artists, and Soul Map: 7 ranked first on the inaugural chart of the IFPI Global Album All Format.

Jungkook, V, Suga, Jin, RM, Jimin and J-Hope are apparently unstoppable. Soul map: 7, his fourth studio album, broke sales charts in his homeland and around the world, ending the year with just 5 million global units.

In the United States, Soul Map: 7 debuted first on the Billboard 200 for the fourth leader of the septet, extending his record to Korean acts.

Asian artists dominate the most recent IFPI chart. In third place is the Japanese artist Kenshi Yonezu with Lost sheep; South Korea’s Blackpink is in 5th place with The album; The Japanese boy band Arashi is in 9th place with This is Arashi; and King Gnu compatriots complete the Top 10 with Ceremony.

“BTS’s success on the IFPI global charts – including the top two positions on this chart – is unprecedented and demonstrates the incredible global appeal of their music,” comments Frances Moore, IFPI CEO. “We would like to congratulate the band once again for such a successful year.”

Taylor Swift, AC / DC and Justin Bieber albums are also on the list, published this Thursday (March 11).
