Bryan Walmart closing for deep cleaning

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The Walmart located at 2200 Briarcrest Drive will close on Monday at 2 pm and will remain closed until December 30 at 7 am. Walmart officials say the store will operate during normal business hours after the reopening.

According to a member of Walmart’s corporate affairs team, the entire building will be cleaned and sanitized by an outside company during closing.

The store will remain closed on Tuesday to allow time to restock shelves and prepare for reopening.

According to an official statement released by the corporate affairs team:

Everything we are doing is for the well-being of our associates and customers and taking into account the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and health specialists. When the store reopens on Wednesday, we will continue to conduct health checks and temperature checks for members, and all members will receive masks and gloves.

These protocols are in addition to the extensive measures we implemented during the pandemic to help protect our associates and customers, including installing sneeze protectors in the logs, temperature checks and mandatory mask use for members, placing social distance signs and emergency license policy execution for associates who cannot or are uncomfortable going to work. In addition, with the help of our health ambassadors, we will continue to require clients to wear protective facial covers while inside the building.

We will continue to work closely with local and elected health officials, adjusting the way we serve the community and, at the same time, keeping in mind the health and safety of our customers and associates.

The company did not specifically say whether the closure and deep cleaning are related to some type of COVID-19 outbreak at the store.
