He promised that Silk Sonic would follow all security protocols and even joked that they would be willing to test for the place.
“We haven’t been able to perform for a while and we just want to sing. We’ll send an audition tape and do all the ambitious auditions we need. I promise we won’t be extras. We just really want a show again. I hope you will consider this request and give us the opportunity to shine, “Mars asked gently.
Of course, .Paak was not quite so relax about it all. Previously, he sent a bunch of tweets about Mars’ way of not seeing Silk Sonic – who just released his first single together, “Leave the Door Open” – nominated as artists for the March 14 show.
“YO @BrunoMars WHAT A DAY —?!? Did you see that?!?! Call me back !!” he wrote, then suggested that they create a hashtag – #LetSilkSonicThrive – to publicize that they are ready and willing to play.
“Nah f — that!” .Paak said in another tweet. “I haven’t seen my family in months !! I need this to work, You promised me !! Everyone to participate !!! I need all of Twitter to help make this trend happen! Come on @RecordingAcad #LetSilkSonicThrive.”
