As Tom Brady ended his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in style, many theories were raised as to why he left New England. Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians certainly has his own theory.
After the Buccaneers’ victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, Arians interviewed the “Inside the NFL” newspaper. In it, co-host Ray Lewis asked the coach why Brady left New England. As Arians noted, a change in scenario was perhaps the biggest motivation behind Brady’s departure from the Patriots.
“I think the competitive spirit is so strong that he wanted to do that,” said Arians. “He wanted to show people. He never said anything bad about Bill Belichick; I know that everyone tries to say yes. Your history speaks for itself. He’s probably the biggest of all. But I think I wanted to try a different way. “
As Brady and the Buccaneers seek to defend their Super Bowl title, one wonders what could have happened to New England. For now, Brady plans to continue adding another chapter to his fairy tale career.
