One of the most attractive free agents on the market as soon as the subscription period opens on March 17 will be Lavonte David. The Buccaneers’ fast and smart linebacker believes he will have many suitors after his leading role in helping Tampa Bay win in the Super Bowl LV.
And according to a report by Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com, the Cleveland Browns will be one of the teams that chase David. Cabot notes that sources have told her that the Browns will be interested in David as the team’s primary target at the free agency.
David will not come cheap. The 31-year-old has recorded at least 100 tackles in eight of his nine NFL seasons, all in Tampa Bay. David had 117 tackles, an INT, a sack, three forced fumbles, 12 loss tackles and six PDs in 2020.
However, there is a robust market for free agents in the linebacker. The Browns did not prioritize spending on the job under GM Andrew Berry. But with the addition of speed and versatility to the position that a great off-season need, perhaps David would attract a lot of interest from the Browns.
