Broward Health Offers Vaccines to High-Risk People Over 18 – NBC 6 South Florida

Broward Health announced on Friday that it opened consultations for COVID-19 vaccines to individuals at risk aged 18 or over.

As of Friday afternoon, all consultations have been completed, according to a spokesman for Broward Health. It is unclear when exactly the health care system will open another batch of consultations, but it will probably be next week.

Patients 18 years of age or older who attend one of the following high-risk groups are eligible to receive the vaccine by appointment only:

  • Asthma (moderate to severe)
  • Cancer
  • Cerebrovascular disease
  • Chronic Kidney Disease
  • COPD
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Down’s syndrome
  • Cardiac conditions, such as (heart failure, coronary artery disease or cardiomyopathies)
  • Hypertension or high blood pressure
  • Immunocompromised condition due to blood or bone marrow transplantation, immune deficiencies, HIV, use of corticosteroids or use of debilitating drugs or solid organ transplantation
  • Liver disease
  • Neurological conditions, such as dementia
  • Overweight or obesity (body mass index greater than 25)
  • Pregnancy
  • Pulmonary fibrosis
  • Sickle cell anemia
  • Smoke
  • Thalassemia
  • Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus
  • Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Patients must complete a vaccination consent form, which was removed from the Broward Health website on Friday afternoon.

Broward Health claims that it vaccinates more than 1,000 people daily at Inter Miami CF Stadium in Lockhart Park. The public can sign up for consultations at BrowardHealth.org.
