The Broward County portal for scheduling vaccines from Covid is back online after the site was interrupted last week due to a high demand for consultations.
The portal allows residents aged 65 and over to schedule an appointment to receive the vaccine free of charge.
When the site went live last week, all slots were quickly booked until February and the portal began to experience intermittent interruptions.
“We appreciate your patience during this time,” said a Florida Department of Health press release.
The department also asked eligible senior citizens to check the site frequently, as the number of vaccination sites for seniors is increasing in the coming weeks.
Drive-thru vaccination sites are also available. Appointments cannot be made over the phone.
“We are sorry that the registration system did not work as we intended. We recognize that our senior community is looking forward to receiving the vaccine, ”said Dr. Paula Thaqi, director of the Florida Department of Health in Broward, last week.
“Know that this is just the beginning of the COVID-19 vaccination opportunities. As the local vaccine supply increases, DOH-Broward, together with our partners, is ready to vaccinate individuals aged 65 and over, as well as additional priority groups as they are identified.
