The doors of the 99th district are set to close, again, with Brooklyn Nine-Nine coming to an end with its next eighth season.
NBC revealed that the police comedy led by Andy Samberg will end during the 2021-22 broadcast season, ending its fairytale resurrection.
The show, produced by Universal Television, was originally aired for five seasons on Fox before it was canceled, but NBC chose the show for a sixth season that aired in 2019. Seventh season aired in spring 2020 and season eight was renewed three months before season seven debuted.
The eighth season production, which will consist of ten episodes, was hit by the pandemic, but Samberg said he expects them to return to the set “soon”. The show will soon return in the fall of 2021, which means that the comedy will not have aired a season during the 2020-21 season.
