Update to updates: NBC announced Thursday that Brooklyn Nine-Nine will end with its next eighth season. The police comedy led by Andy Samberg will end during the 2021-22 broadcast season, finally closing its doors at the 99th police station.
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic caused delays in the production of the eighth season, which will consist of ten episodes.
When news of the show’s last season arrived, Brooklyn Nine-Nine The stars and co-creator Dan Goor shared fond memories of their time working on the program, which first aired on Fox in September 2013. In a statement posted on the official website Brooklyn Nine-Nine On Twitter, Goor recalled the first time he presented the show with co-creator Mike Schur and his time on the series.

“Finishing the series was a difficult decision, but, in the end, we felt it was the best way to honor the characters, the story and our viewers,” he wrote. “I know that some people will be disappointed that we are ending so soon, but honestly, I am grateful that it lasted so long.”
Melissa Fumero, who stars as Amy Santiago, said that being part of the show was “one of the greatest joys”. While she expressed gratitude for everyone in Brooklyn Nine-Nine team, she added that now is not the time for emotions. “We still have an entire season to shoot!”, She wrote.
Director of photography Rick Page celebrated his time on the NBC show with an Instagram post showing the scene.
“Sunset over Brooklyn,” he captioned his photo.
