Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Durant to miss fourth straight game with hamstring injury

Kevin Durant will miss his fourth consecutive game on Sunday, staying out against the LA Clippers, while continuing to receive treatment for a sprained tendon in his left thigh.

Brooklyn Nets coach Steve Nash said on Saturday that the plan was for Durant to continue doing strengthening exercises while being monitored for any inflammation. Nash said he thought Durant would also get some light work on the court in practice.

“As I always say, I don’t think this is a long-term thing,” said Nash. “But there are elements of maybe taking a few more days than we thought or just being cautious. I think both are needed now. I don’t think he’s ready, I think he needs more time, but we’re also definitely going to be cautious.”

Durant injured his hamstring against the Golden State Warriors on February 13. Prior to that game, Durant had lost a week in the league’s health and safety protocols.

Initially, the Nets said that Durant would lose at least two games and that the injury was “minor”.

The Nets are currently in a five-game winning streak – the longest of the season. Still, his Big Three from Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving played just seven games this season. Durant lost a total of 11 games this year.

Durant has an average of 29.0 points. 7.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists for Brooklyn this year.
